Mane 'doesn't look happy' playing through the middle for Bayern, claims Hamann

Sadio Mane doesn't look happy at Bayern Munich, or that's what Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann reckons after the forward has begun to show signs of frustration in Germany.

The Senegalese hero swapped Liverpool for Munich this summer after winning the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup during a six-year stint at Jurgen Klopp's side.

Mane was keen to push through his £38million move to Germany as he set his sights on challenging himself in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

But after a scintillating start that saw him score three goals in the opening three games for his new club, Mane has now gone five games without a goal in all competitions as he tries to adapt to the demands of playing in another country.

Now Hamann, a former Bayern and Liverpool player has questioned whether the 30-year-old is happy in his new surroundings with boss Julian Nagelsmann deploying him as a centre forward.

'He is not integrated,' he told GMX.

'I saw him at Liverpool FC, where he played through the middle. That is not his position. Now he's taking that position at FC Bayern as well.

'He is at his best when he comes from the outside. He doesn't look happy to me.

'Other players like Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala or, in defence, Lucas Hernandez, who is injured at the moment, are putting in outstanding performances.

'Nobody is talking about Mane at the moment. He seems isolated and hardly takes part in the game. FC Bayern has to get a grip on that.'

Bayern surprisingly sit third in the Bundesliga six games into the new season, two points behind table-toppers Union Berlin, having drawn three and won three.

In contrast, old club Liverpool have failed to adjust to their star forwards departure with replacement Darwin Nunez so far struggling to fill the goals void left by Mane.
