Mane can find his best form at Bayern Munich insists new boss Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel is confident that Sadio Mane can still produce his best form at Bayern Munich despite a largely poor first season at the club.

Off the back of a stunning year with Liverpool the Senegal international arrived at the Allianz Arena to much fanfare in the hope of leading their attack heading into this season and beyond.

But with just 11 goals in 29 games across all competitions, his output has not met high expectations and he has fallen down the pecking order at the club.

An injury suffered before the World Cup in November did little to help his cause but since returning to action in February he has made one assist in his five games.

On Saturday he made a 21-minute cameo from off the bench as Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in Thomas Tuchel's first match in charge.

The former Chelsea boss though insists the ex-Reds hitman is still part of his plans at the Bundlesliga giants, describing his talent as 'beyond doubt'.

'I know him well from England. There's no question that Sadio is an absolutely top player,' Tuchel said.

'He scored 20, 30 goals every year for Liverpool and was an absolute key player there. His quality is beyond any doubt.

'Even at his age, it always takes time to acclimate after a change of clubs. That can take time. There's no doubt about his quality and what it can bring us.

It's about trust and patience so he can get back into the rhythm. A goal usually helps the confidence.'
