Mane eclipses Messi & CR7 with best goals per minute ratio in UCL knockout stage

Sadio Mane has been on red hot form for Liverpool this season and one stat underlines his world class ability.

The Senegal international now has a better minutes per goal ratio than both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the history of the Champions League knockout stages.

Averaging a goal every 95 minutes, Mane tops the chart in terms of players with 10 goals or more after the group phase.

He just scrapes into the reckoning with 10 goals in total but his record is 12 minutes better than Ronaldo and 34 minutes ahead of Messi.

The Liverpool winger also usurps the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Neymar and now retired superstars such as Andriy Shevchenko and Filipo Inzaghi.

Mane struck the first goal of the game against Porto on Wednesday night in Liverpool's 4-1 win (6-1 aggregate).

It was his tenth in the knockout stages of the competition overall and this season his tally is up to 24 in all competitions.

He's also in the thick of the race for the Premier League golden boot having found the net 18 times, one less than team-mate Mo Salah and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.

Liverpool will need their electric forward to keep up the current momentum as they continue to fight on two fronts this season.
