Marcello Lippi is very concerned about the health of players and workers in Italian football.
Lippi concluded his experience in China long before the coronavirus outbreak in the region but followed with interest the development and control of health protection measures by the health authorities.
The former Juventus and Italian national coach spoke about the coronavirus emergency in the world on Repubblica.
'It was correct to close here as in China. In Asia they made it and we will do it with much patience and attention,' he said.
'I don't understand how one can think of playing the European Championships in June or the Olympics in Asia, Japan, between July and August: how to say the day after tomorrow.
'Fortunately, UEFA has finally decided to suspend the cups, and I think it will be the same for the Europeans: at the limit, let's play them next year but not now, not at all costs and who knows how, who knows where.
'This will allow to try to save at least the national tournaments, which in my opinion should always be privileged.
'I read about the playoffs but they don't convince me, and neither does the idea of assigning the championship now, like this, based on the ranking.
'If in a month, a month and a half the situation changes the championship will have to resume normally without play off. Other solutions seem mortifying to me for the work done during the regular session. '
