Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed the club will enter the transfer market to sign a new centre-back following the injury setback to Levi Colwill.
Colwill, 22, tore his ACL just two days after reporting for pre-season training with Chelsea, meaning he is likely to miss most of the 2025-26 season.
Chelsea have options at the heart of the defence, with Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Josh Acheampong all understood to be part of Maresca’s plans.
Speaking after their 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Bayer Leverkusen at Stamford Bridge on Friday, however, he revealed he wants another addition.
He said: “It’s a priority for me to get a new centre back. We will see if we go for it”.
Chelsea's Premier League campaign gets underway against Crystal Palace on Sunday, August 17th.
