Marotta insists they can be proud of last season's campaign, despite ending the season trophyless.
Discussing the Champions League, he said, "We reached the final last year and now we consistently represent Italy in this prestigious competition. This is a source of pride and pride, and clearly we always do it with the aim of doing well. It's true that (Cristian) Chivu is coaching for the first time in the Champions League, but he won this competition as a player and has great experience; he knows how to face opponents.
"This new format is difficult, but the timing of the matches also matters a lot; you have to face your opponents with the right physical and mental fitness."
Marotta also said: "We implemented a slightly different model in our transfer market. We invested in five young players, four of whom were bought and one who proudly comes from the youth academy. This model is in line with the guidelines of the owners and the club, and we are proud of it. I believe the squad is fully in line with our ambitions.
"Liverpool and Arsenal at San Siro? As a football fan, it's certainly fascinating. Obviously, the level of difficulty is very high, but we'll compete, with our fans helping us by playing at home. The important thing is to arrive and challenge our opponents in perfect physical and mental condition."
