Marquinhos 'agent' contacts Manchester United to gauge interest over transfer

The agent of Marquinhos has reportedly sounded out Manchester United as a potential destination for his client.

Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos has previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford in years gone by.

His representative Giuliano Bertolucci has reportedly been contacting numerous top European clubs to gauge whether there is any interest in him.

Paris United are claiming that United are one of the teams that have been contacted.

However, Marquinhos remains happy at Paris Saint-Germain and it is unlikely that any move would happen this summer.

Martial handed United lifeline

Anthony Martial will be handed a final chance to save his ailing Manchester United career.

Martial endured a tough third season at United last term and looked set to leave this summer, with Juventus and Tottenham both interested in the versatile forward.

But with Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford on extended breaks following their World Cup exploits in Russia, Martial will be give the opportunity to shine in their enforced absence.

Martial, a £36million signing from Monaco on transfer deadline day in September 2015, will lead United's attack against Leicester in the first Premier League game of the new season on August 10.

The forward, left out of France's World Cup-winning squad because of a lack of game-time at United, has been given a reprieve by Mourinho, who is understood to have told Martial it is now or never for him this season.

With Cristiano Ronaldo having joined Juventus from Real Madrid in a £105m deal, the Serie A side have ended any interest in Martial, while Tottenham's efforts to land the 22-year-old look to have been fruitless.

Mourinho gives Dalot update

Jose Mourinho expects Manchester United new boy Diogo Dalot to miss the first month of the season.

Defender Dalot joined United from Porto in a £19m deal earlier this summer but has been struggling with a knee injury.

He has travelled to the United States for United's pre-season tour but will play no part and is unlikely to feature until September.

“Dalot is injured. We knew that but we didn't want to lose him because of that," the United boss said.

"He is recovering really well. We think he can start training with the team when we go back to England.

"He is not going to be ready for the start of the season but we think he'll be ready for September.”
