Arsenal ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title earlier this month and are desperate to follow that triumph up with victory in Saturday's Champions League final

Martin Odegaard says Arsenal are determined to write “more history” by winning the Champions League.

The Gunners are already toasting their first Premier League title in 22 years and have set their sights on lifting the European Cup for the first time. Arsenal have already received a huge boost after Jurrien Timber was declared fit to start against Paris Saint Germain - and Odegaard says they are ready to seize the moment.

Gunners captain Odegaard said: “For sure, it's something special that we can achieve as that has not been done before. As you say, it was 22 years since we last won the Premier League. Now, finally, we did it.

“We want to make even more history. When you get the taste of winning and lifting a trophy, you know how nice it feels.

“Obviously, we want to do it again. It would mean a lot to everyone, to our supporters. We're ready to do it and looking forward to the game.”

Odegaard spelt out exactly what it would mean to the squad as he revealed it was a childhood dream to lift thew European Cup.

He said: “Yeah, for sure. It has been like that since I was a little kid. I have been dreaming about winning these trophies since I grew up playing football.

“When I started playing with my friends in the little pitch next to my house, I was dreaming of this moment - to win trophies, to play this final and, of course, win it. That dream has been there my whole life and now the last few weeks a little bit more.”

Odegaard admitted the pressure has been lifted because they won the Premier League - but actually insisted that it has not changed their desire to win the Champions League.

He added: “I don't feel like a different person. But obviously it was something really, really special. And something we were fighting for for so long. Of course, like you say, with that pressure, with the outside noise of people saying we can't do it and all that.

“Of course, that's gone. I don't know, for us it doesn't change a lot other than it's an amazing feeling and an amazing achievement. But the mindset is still the same. We want to come here and win tomorrow.

“I think we just have to take all the positives, all the good feelings, all the good energy and the good experiences. We've been through a lot as a group.

“I think everything we've been through prepared us well for these last few weeks and again tomorrow. We are ready for it.”
