Mason Greenwood mocked after Sergio Ramos clash as Man Utd loanee comes up short

Mason Greenwood was taunted by Sevilla after his Getafe side were dumped out of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night.

The forward is on loan with the La Liga outfit from Manchester United but failed to weave his influence as Getafe were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. The result served as quite the shock given Sevilla's abysmal form of late, with the Spaniards having lost six of their last eight fixtures.

Depsite their contrasting league form, with Greenwood's 10th-placed Getafe seven positions above Sevilla, a stellar display from Sergio Ramos inspired a surprise victory. The former Real Madrid captain fired his side in front inside the opening eight minutes, but the hosts soon responded thanks to a Jaime Mata strike.

Two goals in seven minutes from Sevilla's Isaac Romero ended up giving Getafe too high of a mountain to climb, despite Greenwood's best efforts. The 22-year-old got on the ball a lot but failed to make much happen and was the subject of ridicule via Sevilla's social media come full-time.

The seven-time Europa League winners took to Twitter/X to post four images showing some keys, a wallet, a phone and Greenwood smiling in a Getafe kit. The snaps were accompanied by a caption that read: "Sergio Ramos emptying his back pocket after the game tonight."

Greenwood is yet to respond to the Tweet but spoke out on the club's official YouTube channel earlier this month. He said: "I adapted pretty quickly. [My] teammates took me under their wing and I've just been happy ever since, coming here and training, playing the games. I'm happy.

"The fans mean a lot to me. The best feeling so far is when I scored my first goal here at the stadium and it meant a lot to me, I heard the fans quite a lot. We had the training day and a lot of fans came out to watch. We appreciate the fans. They're like an extra man out there on the pitch when they're there supporting us."

Greenwood is currently sitting on three La Liga goals so far this term, as well as four assists. It is widely believed that Getafe are keen on turning his loan switch into a permanent one come the end of the campaign.
