GORGEOUS Kirsty Shelts can certainly help in lifting the gloom surrounding Old Trafford at the moment.

The 27-year-old presenter recently made her debut for Manchester United's TV channel MUTV, and was instantly loved by fans on social media.

Shelts, who also presents the Women's Rugby Show on YouTube, once showed off her stunning curves for a former footballers' clothing range.

The South Londoner modelled lingerie for ex Port Vale star Ryan Burge's Ten Club London range before she scored a job with the Red Devils.

But Shelts could've been working for a different Premier League club, had she passed an audition.

The blonde beauty lost out on becoming the face of Crystal Palace TV in 2014, but their loss is clearly United's gain.

A JOURNALIST WITH PEDIGREE

Shelts didn't just get to where she is based on good looks.

In 2014 she graduated with a first in broadcast journalism at Staffordshire University, and hasn't looked back since.

And before that, she was brave enough to take her first screen test at the age of just 18 for Sky TV for her local rugby club.

Desperate to get a break, she worked as a researcher on BBC Radio 5 Live, as well as on the Clare Balding Show.

IT HELPED SHE WAS SPORTING MAD

As a kid at Riddlesdown School, where former Arsenal star Kieran Gibbs and ex NFL star Lawrence Okoye were also schooled, Shelts was a sports captain.

From the age of 10 she was a competitive swimmer, dedicating her life to the pool by getting up at 4am to train every day.

She also loved golf, played tennis at county level and by 15 was in the national squad for biathlon - a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.

She was rated in the top 10 in the country, and got her first taste of being in front of the camera when she was interviewed by the BBC.

LINGERIE MODEL

In 2016, Shelts showed off her athletic frame by posing in lingerie for fashion label, Ten Club London.

The brand, set up by ex footballer Ryan Burge, was a favourite among the reality TV crowd.

Stars including Geordie Shore star James Tindale and Scott Thomas from Love Island were seen wearing the clobber.

Two years later, Burge, himself scored a deal with rock band Pearl Jam who bought the naming rights of the company from him.

PALACE REJECT

Five years ago, Shelts narrowly missed out on becoming the face of Crystal Palace TV to Chris Grierson.

But she gained valuable experience working with footballers, meeting Palace legend Mark Bright and former goalie Julian Speroni

"I think he's got a really nice manner about him," she said about the Italian.

"For me he is very professional both on and off the pitch, he seems very nice and you can tell he's very passionate about what he does."

ROLE MODELS

Shelts lists Kirsty Gallagher as one of her role models noting her charity work.

Clare Balding is another inspiration because of her transition from sports woman to presenter, who is equally at ease in front of the camera as she was a jockey.

Shelts also had the opportunity to work with BT Sport's UFC: Beyond The Octagon presenter Caroline Pearce, who has moved to the States to work with Fox Sports.

The two, who have remained friends, met when Shelts was just 19 and they scored a job together on a home shopping channel selling sports gear.

It's fair to say, Manchester United might've just scored the signing of the season off the pitch.
