Messi’s Inter Miami competing with Real Madrid and Barcelona in jersey sales

Lionel Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami in the summer of 2023 completely transformed the MLS franchise. Since the legendary Argentine superstar set foot in South Florida, “Las Garzas” have exploded into a global phenomenon.

One of the clearest signs of that impact is jersey sales — an area where Inter Miami is suddenly competing with long-established giants of the game such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The top sellers in 2025

According to a recent report from Euroméricas Sport Marketing, Inter Miami closed out 2025 as the fifth‑best‑selling soccer club in terms of global sales, trailing only Real Madrid (3,133,000 jerseys), Barcelona (2,940,000), Paris Saint‑Germain (2,546,000), and Bayern Munich (2,377,000).

Inter Miami registered sales of 2,166,000 jerseys — a staggering number for a franchise that, before Messi, didn’t even appear on these rankings and wasn’t close to the top sellers in MLS.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Boca Juniors (1,933,000), Manchester United (1,855,000), Flamengo (1,677,000), Chelsea (1,422,000), and Al‑Nassr (1,281,000). The message is clear: Messi’s presence has completely reshaped Inter Miami’s global footprint.

Inter Miami’s participation in the 2025 Club World Cup in the United States also helped boost the brand’s international exposure. And after winning the MLS Cup, the club enters 2026 with a new priority: proving itself on the continental stage and chasing the ultimate prize in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
