Miami are aware of winless run at new stadium, insists Mura

Inter Miami defender Facundo Mura insisted the team are aware of their winless start at Nu Stadium ahead of their clash against rivals Orlando City SC this weekend.

The Herons have been forced to share the spoils in all three of their matches at their new home, drawing 2-2 with Austin FC and the New York Red Bulls before a 1-1 stalemate with the New England Revolution last time out.

Despite their recent draws, Miami are still second in the Eastern Conference, three points behind leaders Nashville SC, who also have a game in hand.

Miami have already beaten Orlando 4-2 this season, and Mura wants to make the most of their home advantage against their rivals.

"Like every match, it will be different from the last time we played them," said Mura.

"This time it's at home, with our fans, and we believe that will help a lot. Hopefully we can repay them with a win, which we have not been able to achieve at the stadium yet.

"We are aware of that – it's been something pending for us since the first match. So we believe this will be a great opportunity to take all three points and earn our first victory at home."

Overall, Miami have lost just one MLS game this season, which came on the opening day against Los Angeles FC.

Prior to their draw with New England, the Herons picked up road wins over the Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake, which Mura admitted was draining on the team.

"It was three matches in seven days with a lot demand and intensity, so physically we're probably a bit tired," added Mura.

"But we've had a good, long weeks with time to recover and prepare for the next match.

"Even though we could not win in the last match, we have taken seven of the last nine points and we feel we have improved, especially mentally, so I think we will arrive in good shape for the next game."

Orlando have endured a poor start to the season, with seven points from 10 games, leaving them 14th in the East.

However, they gained some momentum during the week, defeating New England 4-3 in the last 16 of the US Open Cup.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Inter Miami – Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi has scored eight goals in five career matches against Orlando, netting braces in four of the five games.

Messi has five or more multi-goal games against 16 teams in his career, including one, Nashville (five), from MLS.

Orlando City – Justin Ellis

At 18 years and 346 days old on Saturday, Justin Ellis became the youngest goalscorer in Orlando's MLS history, breaking the record of 19 years and 10 days set by Luis Otavio on April 22 against Charlotte FC.

Prior to last Wednesday, Orlando had just two all-time regular-season goals from teenagers.

MATCH PREDICTION – INTER MIAMI WIN

Inter Miami have won two straight matches against Orlando City for the first time in 19 all-time meetings, including their victory on March 1.

Since 2021, Miami have five wins over Orlando, totalling 19 goals in those games while scoring just six total goals in the other 10 meetings in that time (D5 L5).

However, the Herons have drawn their last four home matches in all competitions, including all three in their new stadium.

This is the first time in Messi's club career that his team have failed to win four straight home matches in which he’s appeared in all competitions.

Orlando have collected one point from their first five away matches this season, conceding 20 times.

Orlando are the first team to allow 20 or more goals in a span of five away matches within a single season since the San Jose Earthquakes conceded 21 times on the road between September and October 2020.
