Michael Owen has predicted Manchester City to beat Arsenal to next season's Premier League title

Michael Owen has backed Manchester City to pip Arsenal to the Premier League title next season.

He predicted another one of his former teams, Liverpool, to finish third whilst United make up the rest of the top four. Chelsea were backed to come fifth, Tottenham Hotspur ninth and West Ham United eleventh.

Reds icon Graeme Souness also recently forecasted the Citizens to clinch the title again next term. "I don’t think the Premier League is in danger of becoming a one-trick pony, but I do think Manchester City will be champions again," Souness told the Sky Bet Fan Hope Survey.

"They are the strongest team, they’ve got the best group of players I’ve ever known in the Premier League, because they have the structure right – they have football people making footballing decisions. They’ve got a manager who is vastly experienced and successful.

"They’ve got the best players – and it’s the best players that win you leagues. I think there will be the same challenger this year – Arsenal will challenge City."

Souness did mention that Arsenal would be improved by the addition of club-record signing Declan Rice, who joined from West Ham for £105million. On the Gunners he added: "Signing Declan Rice will improve them, it’s just a question of how much improvement is there – but City are still the team to catch."
