Mikel Arteta admits Arsenal need to 'careful' of relegation threat

Mikel Arteta has issued a rallying cry to his underperforming Arsenal stars as the Gunners boss urged his players to be wary of the relegation threat amid the club's worst start to a season in 46 years.

The north London side have endured a torrid Premier League campaign thus far, with Saturday's defeat at Everton extending the Gunners' winless run to seven league games.

That form has seen pressure mount on the Arsenal boss who is looking to oversee a dramatic upturn in performances if the Gunners are to climb the table as they linger nervously above the relegation places.

And Arteta has conceded that relegation is a real threat in a stark warning to his under-fire players.

'When you are in this position and you have the points we have at the moment we have to look and be careful,' he said ahead of Tuesday's Carabao Cup quarter final against Man City. 'Because we haven't been a lot of time in this position.'

'If I start to read all the comments whether they are positive or negative, they would drive me mad. My suggestion to every player is exactly the same. All the time it happens with this social media.'
