Declan Rice could find himself in a variety of different roles at Arsenal following Mikel Arteta's comments on a transfer for Thomas Partey
"Every time I spoke to him and had a conversation with him he’s ready to stay with us. For me, there’s nothing there at all." The midfielder remaining in north London could rule out another arrival in the engine room, but Rice completing a £105million move from West Ham does present an issue for Partey as they both play in the same position.
However, that may turn out not to be a problem, following Arteta's response to whether or not the duo can play in the same starting XI. He said: "Yeah. They can play together. That was in my plans If you want to improve the squad and have more quality you need players that can improve the squad and players in the same position that can fight for the same places.
"It’s something that we haven’t had in the last few years. We wanted to improve that. That’s why we bought Declan as well."
