Match Report
Following a goalless first half, Morocco found the breakthrough in the 51st minute when defender Nayef Aguerd pounced on a rebound after El Yamiq’s header from an Ezzalzouli corner was parried away.
Just eight minutes later, the hosts doubled their lead as Brahim Diaz coolly converted from the penalty spot after Noussair Mazraoui was brought down in the box. The Real Madrid midfielder’s composed finish gave Morocco complete control of the game.
Despite dominating possession with over 80% in the opening half, the North African side initially struggled to break down Tanzania’s well-structured defense.
The visitors, coached by Hemed Suleiman, displayed resilience and nearly took the lead in the 42nd minute when Salum’s volley went inches wide of Yassine Bounou’s post.
With this victory, Morocco remain at the top of Group E, having won all five of their qualifying matches. The result brings them closer to securing a spot in what would be their seventh World Cup appearance.
The Atlas Lions are now unbeaten in nine consecutive games, boasting an impressive defensive record with just two goals conceded in their last five matches while netting 22 times.
