Moyes: Grealish still has a chance to play for Everton

Everton manager Moyes has stated in an interview that Grealish still has a chance to return to the team, but it is currently uncertain when the midfielder will regain playing opportunities. Grealish had previously missed two consecutive matches against Newcastle United due to disciplinary issues.

Grealish, 31, is currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City. He was previously excluded from the squad for Thursday's League Cup match against Newcastle United after allegedly missing training without permission. Everton ultimately won 3-1, but Grealish did not feature.

On Monday, Everton defeated Newcastle United 1-0 away in the Premier League, with Thierno Barry scoring the only goal. Grealish was absent again. The club explained that his physical condition was not yet up to match requirements.

After the match, Moyes discussed Grealish's situation in an interview with the BBC.

When asked when Grealish would return, Moyes said: "He is currently unavailable. We will make a decision with the club when we believe he is ready to play again."

When further pressed on whether Grealish's absence was indeed due to his physical condition, Moyes replied: "All I can say at the moment is that he is temporarily unavailable."

As for whether the previous disciplinary issues had been resolved, Moyes stated: "No, I cannot comment on that."

Everton's next match is at home against Coventry City on Friday, and Moyes is currently unsure if Grealish will be able to participate. However, when directly asked if Grealish still had a chance to continue his career at Everton, Moyes emphatically replied: "Of course."

Grealish is currently trying to regain his career form at Everton. Manchester City signed him for £100 million in 2021, but he has since gradually lost his important position in the team. The English midfielder helped Manchester City win the treble in the 2022-23 season.

Last season, Grealish joined Everton on loan, making 22 appearances and scoring 2 goals, but his loan spell ended prematurely due to injury. This season, he has returned to Everton on loan again and has made 6 appearances so far. His contract with Manchester City expires at the end of this season.
