Mukiele bids farewell to Leipzig as he nears £13m move to PSG

Nordi Mukiele has confirmed he is leaving RB Leipzig, with his move to French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain widely expected to be finalised soon.

The defender joined Leipzig from Montpellier in 2018 and helped them reach the 2020 Champions League semi-finals while also winning the German Cup this year, the club's first major trophy.

PSG have agreed a £13million fee to sign him, with only a medical needing to be completed before the transfer goes through.

'I wanted to thank you for everything you have done for me,' Mukiele said on social media.

'You made me feel home since the very first day I arrived and it is with heavy heart that I leave today. I want to thank everyone involved at the club that help us reach our goals on a daily basis.

'The history we've build is also yours. To my brothers on the field, let's keep this legacy alive. To the coaches and staff I've had during this 4 seasons. THANK YOU. With you, I've discovered the highest levels of football.

'Today I'm a better player but also a better human being and I've been able to achieve some of my personal dreams also thanks to you. Danke für alles. Your Joker, Nordi.'

According to David Ornstein, Chelsea considered making a late approach for Mukiele over the weekend but by that point a deal had already been agreed with PSG.

The 24-year-old is able to play multiple positions - right-back, centre-back and right midfield - and contributed 10 goals and 11 assists in 145 appearances for RB Leipzig.

His performances for the Bundesliga side earned him a first call up to the France senior squad last September and he made his debut as a substitute against Finland.
