Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah expressed his happiness to return to playing and training with the Reds again and spoke about his thoughts for next season.

Egypt star Mohamed Salah made his return for Liverpool in the 62nd minute of their 2-1 win over Manchester City in the International Champions Cup. It took the young winger less than one minute for him to score his first goal of the pre-season, though replays showed that it may have been offside.

Salah had an exceptional debut season with Liverpool after he scored 44 goals across all competitions with the club and became the Premier League’s best ever goalscorer in a 38-game campaign with 32 goals.

His performances were awarded The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award nomination alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Antoine Griezmann.

“I am very happy to be back. I feel good and my shoulder is much better. I’m very happy to be back in the squad,” he told LFC’s official social channels after a training session in Michigan.

The 26-year-old assured that despite the pressure that might be on his shoulders to top last season’s performances, he is not concerned about results.

“Last year I had a great season – everyone, not just me. When people talk about myself, yes there is some pressure because it was a record and we also have to improve, again, in the Champions League and finish in a better position in the Premier League.

“But it’s not something I worry about, I just keep doing what I am doing. I am happy about what I am doing, so I just keep doing the same,” he added.

When asked about new Guinean teammate Naby Keita, Salah said that he is an amazing player and that he is very happy to play with him.

“We will support each other to perform better and to finish in a better position this year,” he said.

As for his presence in New Jersey in the last game and the prominent reception he got from the fans, Salah was happy with how good the overall atmosphere was.

“There are a lot of Egyptians everywhere. I feel good, I feel loved. These are my people and I am very happy about it,” he concluded.
