Napoli 'made another step forward' in Como draw, insists Conte

Antonio Conte believes his Napoli side "made another step forward" in their draw with Como.

Napoli played out a goalless draw at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Saturday, registering just one shot on target against Cesc Fabregas' top-four chasers.

Napoli (W2 D2) have avoided defeat in four consecutive away games for the first time since March to September 2025: seven in that case (W4 D3).

Conte's side have also kept a clean sheet in four of their last six Serie A games, the same number of clean sheets as in the previous 16.

The draw saw Napoli maintain their eight-point advantage over fifth-placed Como, all but securing their place in the Champions League next season with three games to go.

“It was certainly a good performance, as without that you don’t emerge unscathed from a game where both Napoli and Como had a lot at stake. Como probably had more at stake with Champions League qualification,” Conte told DAZN Italia.

“We were a little too timid in the first half and didn’t put the right pressure on.

"Let us not forget they have a goalkeeper [Jean Butez] who makes it very difficult, because with the slightest wrong movement, he can get away and then force you to sprint back to cover the space.

"We improved in terms of quality after the restart, had chances to score goals, but there are three games to go.

"We made another step forward, not just for a Champions League place, but also to try and finish as high up the table as possible.

"The lads did well, we must congratulate them for the performance against a tough opponent."

A draw against Como, however, means Napoli's title defence is almost over, with Inter potentially able to secure the Scudetto on Sunday when they face Parma.
