Previously, renowned journalist Sami Mokbel and other sources reported that Arsenal was preparing to submit a £70 million bid to Newcastle United for Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
However, according to a follow-up report by Newcastle team reporter Lee Ryder, sources within Newcastle stated that a £70 million bid would not be enough to open negotiations for Guimaraes.
Reportedly, Newcastle's stance on Guimaraes remains unchanged – they do not want to sell the Brazilian international, and Guimaraes is expected to return to Newcastle's training camp.
The reporter concluded that it seems Arsenal would have to make an "astronomical offer" for Newcastle to consider selling Guimaraes.
