Paris Saint-Germain narrowly beat Montpellier on penalties in the Coupe de France semi-finals on Wednesday night, but just four minutes after coming on as a late substitute, Neymar received a booking that will see him miss out on the final.
Mauricio Pochettino kept Neymar on the bench until the 86th minute, three minutes after Andy Delort had scored Montpellier's second to make the score 2-2 on the night. The match went straight to penalties.
But before the penalty shootout and after just four minutes on the pitch, Neymar received a yellow card which rules him out of the final, something that riled the 29-year-old, who took to Instagram after the match.
"I play five minutes, I commit a foul and he gives me a yellow without even thinking," wrote Neymar on Instagram in reference to referee Jeremie Pignard.
"Thank you for suspending me for the final. I think it was personal."
PSG will face either Monaco or fourth-tier Rumilly Vallieres, who play against each other on Thursday night in the other Coupe de France semi-final.
This has been a disappointing campaign for PSG on the whole, as they reached the Champions League semi-finals but have seen Lille displace them as Ligue 1's champions in waiting.
