The English winger signs until 2031 after making an impact in European Football during his time at Newcastle United

FC Barcelona and Newcastle United have reached an agreement for Anthony Gordon to become a blaugrana for the next five seasons.

Debut at 16 years of age

Born on 24 February 2001 in Kirkdale, one of the most working-class areas of one of the most football-crazy cities in Europe, Liverpool, Anthony Gordon began his career at young age at the Academy of Liverpool FC, his boyhood club. At the age of eleven he moved across the city to Liverpool's big rivals, Everton.

At the age of 16 he made his debut for the first team in a Europa League match and at the age of 18 he made his Premier League debut. From that moment his talent was obvious as well as the qualities that he has shown throughout his career. After four-and-a-half seasons with Everton, including a year on loan at Preston North End, he made the next step in his footballing journey

Gascoigne, Shearer, Cole, Gordon

After being a key member of the squad at Everton and helping the Premier League club avoid relegation, he moved to a side in search of Champions League football, Newcastle United, in January 2023. In his first season with the Magpies, he ended the campaign with 12 goals and 10 assists and was named player of the season, following in the footsteps of the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Alan Shearer, and Andy Cole.

Over the last few seasons Anthony Gordon has established himself as one of the best, most talented and hardest-working wingers in European football. He is a player with great capacity for improvement and a player who also is very hard working in defence. Even though he has played as a winger for most of his career, he has played at centre forward, a position that he could well fill at FC Barcelona.

Ambition as a culer

He comes to the club after being top scorer with Newcastle United last season and the player who took on most dribbles. Gordon impressed in his three appearances against Barça last season in the Champions League. And he finally puts on the Barça shirt. It will be after the World Cup, which gives him another opportunity to prove his maturity as a player with great ambition.
