Liverpool FC have completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, subject to a work permit.

The Hungary midfielder becomes the Reds’ second new addition of the summer window after agreeing terms and successfully completing a medical, following in the footsteps of Alexis Mac Allister.

Szoboszlai arrives at Anfield after two-and-a-half years in the Bundesliga with Leipzig, where he made 91 appearances in all competitions.

The 22-year-old is confirmed to be Liverpool's new No. 8, which is known as Steven Gerrard's legendary jersey number.

He told the reporters: “It’s really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better.

“I’m joining a historical, top club. I’m very happy. The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy!”

“[A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”

“I’m here finally and I really want to tell Liverpool fans that I can’t wait to see them at Anfield, can’t wait to get started”.

The Hungarian midfielder arrived at Merseyside for his medical on Saturday after the Reds triggered his release clause which expired one night prior.

He follows the £35m arrival of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton last month, with both players strengthening a Liverpool midfield which was below-par last season, as they finished outside of the Champions League places.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League giants, keeping him at Anfield until 2028, and it's believed that he will receive a significant pay rise from the £80,000-per-week he was earning in Germany.

Szoboszlai flew into Liverpool on a private plane on Saturday morning and underwent the first stage of tests ahead of signing his contract.

The youngster helped Leipzig win the German Cup as he scored in their 2-0 win over Frankfurt. He scored ten goals in 46 appearances across all competitions, also registering eight assists.

Liverpool have good relations with Leipzig after signing Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate from them. On Friday, Fabio Carvalho went the other way on a season-long loan.

After commencing his senior career at Liefering, Szoboszlai signed for Red Bull Salzburg in 2018 before joining Leipzig in 2021.

While at Salzburg he won the Austrian title four times and the Austrian Cup on three occasions. Since joining Leipzig he has won the DFB-Pokal twice.

He will add versatility to Klopp's side, as he can also play out wide as well as in the centre of the park.

Szoboszlai might not be the last midfield signing this summer for the Reds, who have also been linked with Southampton's Romeo Lavia and Nice's Khephren Thuram.
