Official Statement

Olympique de Marseille is delighted to announce the signing of Dutch international midfielder Quinten Timber from Feyenoord Rotterdam.

Long presented as ‘the brother of’, since he is the twin brother of Jurrien Timber, currently at Arsenal, Quinten Timber has gradually carved out his own path to establish himself as one of the most complete midfielders of his generation in the Netherlands. Born on 17 June 2001 in Utrecht, the midfielder trained at Ajax Amsterdam has managed to transform a sometimes winding career path into one of maturity and affirmation, becoming a key player for Feyenoord Rotterdam and the Dutch national team.

Having come through the Ajax youth ranks, Quinten Timber did not immediately make his mark with the first team, despite his recognised potential. In search of playing time and responsibility, he joined FC Utrecht in 2021. This proved to be a decisive move: in a more stable environment, he gained consistency, confidence and influence. His convincing performances in the Eredivisie quickly attracted the attention of the country's big clubs.

In the summer of 2022, Feyenoord signed him to strengthen their midfield. Under Arne Slot, Quinten Timber took his game to the next level. A regular starter, he played an active role in the club's successes, including the Dutch league title, and established himself as an indispensable part of the team's balance. His solid performances also opened the doors to the Dutch national team, where he made his senior debut after progressing through all the youth teams.

Quinten Timber embodies the modern midfielder par excellence. Capable of playing as a defensive midfielder or in a more attacking role, he stands out for his work rate, his ability to push forward and his physical impact. Comfortable on the ball, he knows how to break through the lines with his dribbling or passing, while also providing a real defensive presence. His tactical intelligence and reading of the game allow him to adapt to different systems, making him a player who is as reliable as he is influential.

At 24, Quinten Timber has definitely changed status. Now recognised for his own qualities, he is one of the best Dutch midfielders. His arrival at Olympique de Marseille under Roberto De Zerbi should allow him to increase his playing time in a French league that he is about to discover.

Welcome to OM, Quinten!
