OFFICIAL: EPL confirm Everton have been docked 2 more points
Everton have been handed a two-point deduction for a breach of Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
The Toffees had already been deducted six points - which was reduced from ten on appeal - for a previous breach of financial regulations.
They have now been hit by another penalty after an independent commission recommended such a punishment for their spending in a three-year accounting period ending in the 2022/23 season.
Sean Dyche's men drop to 16th as a result of new punishment.
More on Everton's two point penalty. The starting penalty calculated was actually five points, but mitigating factors reduced it to two.
Everton successfully argued:
1. They had already been penalised for overlapping years and double punishment was unfair.
2. The loss of sponsorship revenue from USM Services Limited.
3. The fact the club admitted its PSR breach at the first opportunity.
1. & 2. resulted in two points deducted from the five, with a further point taken off for 3.
The Commission rejected the other grounds of mitigation and also concluded Everton’s cooperation was "not exceptional".
