On July 21st, Hull City officially announced that Ecuadorian midfielder Zambrano has rejoined the club on a 4+1-year contract.

Official Announcement

Hull City is delighted to announce the permanent return of Ecuadorian defensive midfielder Oscar Zambrano, having completed a permanent transfer from Slovenian side Maribor for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old joined Maribor last September, scoring two goals in seven appearances for the team; he has now signed a four-year contract, with the club holding an option for an additional year.

Zambrano made 8 appearances for Hull City on loan during the 2024/25 season, delivering impressive performances. He contributed 1 goal and 1 assist in the team's dominant 4-1 victory over Cardiff City.

Zambrano came through LDU Quito's youth academy, making 65 appearances and scoring 2 goals for the Ecuadorian team. In August 2024, he scored in the team's 4-0 away victory over Macará in the final match of the season.

His first goal came against the same opponent, as he scored in the team's 5-0 thrashing of Macará in October 2022. Six months earlier, 10 days before his 18th birthday, he made his first-team debut in the team's 2-0 win over Cumbayá.

Zambrano made 31 appearances during the 2023 season, helping LDU Quito secure their 12th Ecuadorian Serie A title and the Copa Sudamericana.

In 2024, the midfielder made 17 starts across all competitions and provided 2 assists for the capital club before moving to Hull City on loan in East Yorkshire.

Born in Santo Domingo, Zambrano has made 14 appearances for Ecuador’s U20 national team. He began his football journey at the Colorados-Jipijapa youth academy, the same institution that produced Chelsea player Moisés Caicedo.

Welcome back, Oscar!
