OFFICIAL: Everton welcome back David Moyes as their new Manager

Official Announcement

Everton Football Club is delighted to welcome back David Moyes as their new Manager, effective immediately.
David is widely recognised as one of the Premier League’s most experienced and accomplished managers, having led Everton for more than 500 matches from 2002 to 2013.
As a driving force behind taking Everton to the 2009 FA Cup Final and four European campaigns, he has also managed Manchester United and West Ham United, where he notably won the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Executive Chairman Marc Watts said: “We are pleased that David is joining us at this pivotal time in Everton’s history. With over a decade of experience at the club, he is the right leader to propel us through our final season at Goodison Park and into our new stadium. We look forward to working with David to build the foundation of a new era for Everton.”
David Moyes said: “It’s great to be back! I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.
“I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club.
“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”
Further announcements on David's staff will follow in due course.

David Moyes is Everton's new manager! The former West Ham boss returns to Goodison Park 12 years on since his departure.

Moyes has arrived back on Merseyside 12 years after leaving the Toffees for Manchester United, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

During his first stint with Everton between 2002-13, Moyes oversaw 518 games in all competitions, winning 218 (drawn 139, lost 161), ending with a win percentage of 42.08%.

He lasted just 10 months at Old Trafford before being sacked after a poor run of results, going on to manage Real Sociedad, Sunderland and two spells with West Ham.

The 61-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Hammers at the end of last season, having guided them to the Europa Conference League title in 2023.

Moyes takes over an Everton side who sit 16th in the Premier League after picking up just one win from their last 11 top-flight matches under former manager Dyche.

Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman were placed in temporary charge after Dyche's dismissal for their FA Cup third round victory over Peterborough United on Thursday.
