Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the Senegalese central defender Abdoulaye Faye. The 20-year-old joins the Bundesliga side from Swedish top-flight club BK Häcken. Faye has penned a contract at Leverkusen to 30 June 2030.
"In Abdoulaye Faye we have signed an extremely talented defender. His signing is a transfer with a long perspective, Faye is a promise for the future of Bayer 04 Leverkusen," said managing director sport Simon Rolfes. According to the director of football Kim Falkenberg, "Abdoulaye Faye has everything needed to become an impressive player in our Werkself team. He's a very good footballer, has outstanding ability in creating moves and he produces quality passes," said Falkenberg.
The 1.91 metre tall defender is happy about his move to the Werkself: “Leverkusen offers me a great chance that I definitely want to take. I will do all I can to put myself in the frame at Bayer 04 over the long term,” said Faye. “It’s a top European club - wearing the Leverkusen jersey will inspire me every day.“
