Lucien Favre signs new contract with Dortmund until 2021 after finishing 2nd in Bundesliga.
Lucien Favre, born 2 November 1957, is a Swiss football manager and former footballer. Favre was a playmaker for various Swiss and French clubs, the longest for Servette, with whom he also won the championship.
As a manager, he won the Swiss Cup and the Swiss championship with Servette and Zürich. In Germany, Favre revived Hertha BSC and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
On 22 May 2018, Favre was appointed as manager of Borussia Dortmund. During his debut season, he became the first-ever manager to remain unbeaten in his first 15 Bundesliga matches with the club.
"Lucien has created clear structures and developed our players," sporting director Michael Zorc told the club’s website.
"He has met our expectations 100 per cent," added CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke. "It is logical that we want to shape the future together.”
