Brazilian midfielder tops fan poll for best Premier League performance in 24th round of matches

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been voted the Premier League Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 24, following his standout performance against Fulham.

It is the fourth week in a row that a Man Utd player has won the award, after his team-mates Patrick Dorgu, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko topped the polls for Matchweeks 23, 22 and 21 respectively.

Casemiro delivered a classic performance in Man Utd's 3-2 win against Fulham.

The 33-year-old was instrumental in giving his side the early 2-0 lead. Firstly, he showed his aerial prowess to head in Fernandes' free-kick for the opener. Casemiro then turned provider with a brilliant no-look pass for Matheus Cunha to rifle home. He also won seven of his nine duels in the match.

Casemiro has now scored five goals in the Premier League this season; only in 2020/21 with Real Madrid (six) has he ever scored more in a single season in Europe's big five leagues.

Casemiro picked up 51 per cent of the fan vote in Matchweek 24, to claim the award for the first time, while his closest challenger, Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike, received 17 per cent.

The other six nominees were Dominic Solanke (10 per cent), Noni Madueke (eight per cent), Joao Pedro (seven per cent), Xavi Simons (three per cent), plus Habib Diarra and Caoimhin Kelleher (both two per cent).

This is the ninth time a Man Utd player has been named Player of the Matchweek in 2025/26. Like Casemiro, Harry Maguire (in MW8), Bryan Mbeumo (MW9) and Sesko (MW21) have all won it once, while Dorgu (two) and Fernandes (three) have both won it multiple times.
