Official news: Portuguese coach César Peixoto becomes Wolves' new head coach, signing a 2-year contract.

Wolves officially confirmed the appointment of César Peixoto as the club's new head coach.

The 46-year-old Portuguese coach has signed a two-year contract with the club, with the appointment subject to work permit approval.

Peixoto arrives at Molineux having already built a strong reputation in Portuguese football. Most recently, he led Gil Vicente to a sixth-place finish in the Primeira Liga.

As a former Portuguese international, Peixoto enjoyed a distinguished playing career spanning over two decades, winning domestic honors in Portugal and being part of José Mourinho's Champions League-winning Porto squad, before transitioning into coaching.

Executive Chairman Shi Yu said: "We are absolutely delighted to welcome César to Wolves. In our conversations with him, it quickly became clear that he possesses many of the qualities we believe are essential for the future development of this football club. We want a clear footballing philosophy, strong leadership, and a fierce desire to succeed. César demonstrated all of these, but what impressed me most was his mentality, professionalism, and willingness to embrace the challenge ahead. He is young, energetic, and ambitious, yet also thoughtful, responsible, and willing to constantly challenge himself and those around him to improve. We are confident that he will be an excellent fit for the culture and vision we are building at Wolves."

Peixoto said: "I am very proud to come to this great English club with such a rich history. This is an important opportunity for me, and I am ready to give my all to bring Wolves back to where it belongs in the Premier League.

We have excellent players, but I believe the team can make great strides under my leadership, and I myself can continue to grow as a head coach. I want to inject my philosophy into the team, establish a distinct style at the club, and help the team grow by showcasing my footballing ideas and playing style.

This is an amazing club, and for me, it's very important that Wolves play football that reflects the spirit of the fans. This is a hard-working city, full of energy and passion, and I want the fans to see a team that plays attacking football, is well-organized, and fights for the fans.

I want the supporters to be proud of our players, proud of the way we play, and proud of our fighting spirit to win match after match, and ultimately achieve the most important goal – to return Wolves to the Premier League."
