Real Betis Balompié has activated the option to buy they had on Giovani Lo Celso from Paris Saint-Germain. The Green and White institution has negotiated with the French club for the definitive transfer of the Argentine midfielder, who will sign a new contract until 2023.
Having spent the 2018/19 season with Los Verdiblancos on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder has been an absolute revelation under Quique Setien's tutelage, adding goals from midfield to his arsenal.
As part of the loan agreement, a permanent option was included between the two clubs, and Real Betis quickly made the decision that they were indeed going to exercise this option when the time came.
This occurred on Tuesday morning, with the Andalusian club posting a statement on their official website, announcing that the Argentine midfielder had signed a contract with the LaLiga Santander club until June of 2023.
A return of 15 goals across 40 matches in all competitions has been nothing short of spectacular from Lo Celso, and he has easily been the club's player of the season.
