The 29-year-old had to be subbed off during Barcelona's 3-3 draw against Levante, despite coming on as a sub himself, and he underwent tests on Wednesday which revealed the injury in his right leg.
He has already missed 35 games this season through injury and looks set for another spell on the sidelines.
