Dominik Szoboszlai today received Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month award for August.
Liverpool:
The Hungary international claimed the first prize of the 2025-26 season after a series of excellent contributions for the Premier League champions.
Szoboszlai started all four matches for Arne Slot’s side in August, helping to kick off their title defence with a 4-2 win over AFC Bournemouth after they were beaten on penalties in the FA Community Shield.
He was then deployed at right-back for the meetings with Newcastle United and Arsenal – and was pivotal to victories being claimed in both, taking the Carlsberg Player of the Match accolade each time.
Szoboszlai’s instinctive dummy led to Rio Ngumoha’s winner at St. James’ Park, before the No.8 produced a sensational 30-yard free-kick at Anfield to defeat the Gunners.
In our supporter poll for Player of the Month, he secured two-thirds of the vote, ahead of summer signing Hugo Ekitike in second.
