Dutch football legend, former Ajax, Juventus, Fulham and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has been transported to a hospital by helicopter in the afternoon after he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. He is taken into intensive care in Croatia.
On Friday, 52-year-old Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain during his vacation on a Croatian island. Then he was sent to hospital by a helicopter.
He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition. The next 24 hours will be crucial according to Ajax official.
Less than 6 weeks ago, Van der Sar resigned as Ajax's CEO.
AFC Ajax took to Twitter to break the news as they wrote: 'On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition.

The news comes just weeks after the former goalkeeper made hte decision to step down from his role at the Dutch club.
