According Roshane Thomas from TA, Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked by West Ham United.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked by West Ham United.

Nuno’s last game in charge was Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat by West Bromwich Albion, which saw West Ham slip below the away side and fall to eighth in the table. They previously lost 3-2 at home to Southampton on October 24.

Widely expected to bounce straight back up after relegation from the Premier League last season, it has not been a straightforward return to the Championship for the east London club.

They have only won six of their 13 league matches, drawing four and losing three. Those results have them six points behind leaders Middlesbrough and four behind second-placed Swansea City.

Following The Athletic’s report the club confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday morning.

“Following a thorough review of the start to the EFL Championship season, the board of directors believe that a change is necessary at this time in order to ensure that the club’s objectives and expectations remain on track,” it read.

Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also departed alongside Nuno, the club announced, while Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge of the team ahead of their next fixture, away at Cardiff City, on Wednesday evening.

Nuno, 52, was appointed on a three-year contract in September 2025, following the sacking of Graham Potter. West Ham were 19th when Nuno arrived but he could not steer them clear of relegation, which was confirmed on the final day of the campaign.

The Portuguese’s future was in doubt only a few months after he arrived, only for West Ham to decide to stick with him in January. A few days after relegation was confirmed, the club released a statement confirming Nuno would remain at the helm.

Before joining West Ham, Nuno had spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.
