Barcelona officially announced on July 1st that the club has extended Danish defender Andreas Christensen's contract until 2028.

Barcelona Official Announcement

Barcelona Football Club and Christensen have agreed to a contract extension through June 30, 2028. The central defender's contract has been extended for an additional two seasons, and the club and player will formally sign the agreement at the club's offices in the coming days.

Next season will mark Christensen's fifth season as a Barcelona player, having joined from Chelsea in summer 2022. Since his arrival, the Danish defender has become a key member of the team thanks to his tactical intelligence, experience, and ball-playing ability.

In his four seasons with Barcelona, Christensen has made 98 appearances: 71 in La Liga, 15 in the Champions League, 2 in the Europa League, 6 in the Copa del Rey, and 4 in the Spanish Super Cup. During this period, he has won 3 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, and 3 Spanish Super Cup titles.

In the 2024/25 season, Christensen suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for nearly six months. He returned near the end of the season, making an appearance in Barcelona's final league match against Valencia in late May.

The contract extension secures a defender with valuable international experience for Barcelona. Now fully recovered, Christensen will contribute his leadership and talent to the club's defense in the coming seasons.
