Olympique Marseille have signed Danish international defensive midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on a permanent contract, confirm Tottenham on their website.

29-year-old Hojbjerg moved to Marseille on a loan deal in the summer of 2024, but Tottenham already mentioned at the time that the agreement contained a clause that obliged Marseille to sign him permanently.

The transfer is now a reality, says Tottenham in a longer update of players leaving the club.

"As previously reported, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's loan deal will become permanent this summer, while Kevin Danso's loan stay with us from RC Lens will become permanent", write Tottenham.

The Premier League club also says goodbye to Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon, Alfie Whiteman and Timo Werner. The latter returns to Yussuf Poulsen's RB Leipzig after a loan stay of one and a half years.

Hojbjerg has become a regular starter in Marseille's midfield this season. He played 30 matches in Ligue 1 and two in the French cup tournament Coupe de France.

The Danish international has only missed a few matches due to the injury that also kept him out of the latest national team training camp in March.
