Paris Saint-Germain are CHAMPIONS OF FRANCE for the 12th time in their history

After Monaco’s defeat to Lyon, PSG are crowned Ligue 1 champions for the 10th time in the last 12 seasons! 🏆

Paris Saint-Germain have mathematically wrapped up the 2023-2024 Ligue 1 title this Sunday. On the back of their 3-3 home draw against Le Havre, PSG only needed Monaco to drop points this Sunday at Lyon to start the title celebrations, which they did. Les Monégasques lost 3-2 againt Les Gones. With a 12-point lead with three games left to play, PSG have sealed their 12th league title, no team recorded more accolades in the French top flight. It is Les Parisiens‘ third consecutive Ligue 1 title. Christophe Galtier’s Lille was the latest team to dent PSG’s Ligue 1 supremacy in 2021.

Despite a tepid start, with Luis Enrique’s tenure starting with two draws and a loss in his five first league games, PSG have pulled ahead with relative ease. Contrary to last season with Lens, no team could match Les Parisiens’ pace. PSG only lost once this Ligue 1 season, at home against Francesco Farioli’s Nice (3-2). They took the lead for the first time in gameweek 12 and they haven’t looked back since.

For PSG and Luis Enrique, wrapping up the Ligue 1 title as early as today means all the focus is now on Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes. The second leg is set to be played next Tuesday in Germany. Should they eliminate Die Schwarzgelben, Paris Saint-Germain would play their second-ever UCL final against either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid at Wembley, on Saturday, June 1st.

A week before this potential showdown, Paris Saint-Germain will have the opportunity to seal their 15th French Cup title win against Pierre Sage’s Lyon at Lille. Considering they already won the Trophée des Champions last summer and that they will lift Hexagoal – the Ligue 1 trophy – to wrap up the season for their last home game two weeks from now against Toulouse, a historic quadruple is still on the cards for PSG.
