Christophe Galtier reportedly has just two games to save his job as Paris Saint-Germain manager with rivals breathing down their neck in the Ligue 1 title race.
The Parisians have struggled at the beginning of 2023, losing eight of their last 18 matches in all competitions and exiting the Champions League at the last-16 stage.
Sunday night's 1-0 home defeat to Lyon left them just six points ahead of Lens and Marseille in a title race that should have been a foregone conclusion.
L'Equipe report the intense pressure now on Galtier's shoulders and say his fate will be decided by the outcome of PSG's next two games - Saturday's trip to Nice and the top two clash with Lens a week later.
If they slip up in either, it will be very much game on in the title race with seven matches to play from that point.
The French sports paper says Galtier's long-term future is uncertain anyway with PSG expecting him to stand aside if they find the right replacement for him.
Falling short in their Ligue 1 title defence will be unacceptable for the PSG hierarchy, especially after they once again failed in the Champions League, losing 3-0 on aggregate to Bayern Munich.
It comes amid growing discord at the club, with supporters jeering Lionel Messi again on Sunday night as he stalls on a contract extension for a third season at the Parc des Princes.
Galtier, 56, hit out at the 'very harsh' supporter criticism of the Argentine World Cup winner, who has scored 18 goals and contributed 17 assists for PSG this season.
He said: 'Whistles against Leo Messi are very harsh. Leo is a player who gives a lot. He also gave a lot in the first part of the season but it is also up to other players to have more functions.
'We are waiting for Leo and Kylian Mbappe, to unlock situations, But around Leo, the players must take more responsibility, because we can't expect everything to come from Leo or Kylian.'
France's 1998 World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit also blasted the booing fans, calling their action an 'insult to football.'
