PSG in advanced talks for José Mourinho

  /  autty

Having emerged as one of the options to replace Christophe Galtier this summer, José Mourinho now appears to be the leading candidate to become Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager this summer.

According to RMC Sport, talks between Sporting Advisor Luís Campos and his agent Jorge Mendes are at an advanced stage, with Mourinho’s entourage denying any direct contact with his compatriot at PSG.

The double Champions League winner recently rejected advances from his former club Chelsea, but nevertheless wants to move on from Roma to a team that can compete at a higher level to match his ambitions – PSG and Real Madrid are among the teams he would leave the Italian capital for.

Mourinho is in any case Campos’ priority for the job – but it remains to be seen whether the latter will have the final say at PSG, and he does not intend to push for the former Inter manager’s arrival until after the Ligue 1 title has been secured. The club’s upper management in Qatar have been in contact with Thiago Motta and Julian Nagelsmann, with Zinédine Zidane as ever being their ultimate goal. Some within the club are also concerned about whether Mourinho’s management style could clash with the dressing room rather than motivate the squad.
