L’Équipe have confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain have triggered the release clause within Ousmane Dembélé’s (26) Barcelona contract. Les Parisiens now have five days to complete the deal.
Dembélé’s arrival at PSG now looks just a matter of time. The French winger has already decided to join the Ligue 1 champions and with the €50m clause activated, discussions between the clubs will now take place. PSG could just pay the €50m fee outright, however, further discussions could facilitate an alternative agreement between the two clubs.
PSG could ultimately pay a higher fee than the €50m release clause but with more favoured payment terms. The alternative is paying the Catalan club the €50m immediately. The clubs now have five days to conclude the deal. Should an alternative agreement not be found by then, PSG will then pay the release clause. Regardless, Dembélé is set to be a PSG player come Sunday, according to L’Équipe.
