It was the first Champions League outing for Paris Saint-Germain's new attacking trident of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar on Wednesday night, but the result was disappointing.
Mbappe went off injured, Messi missed a clear chance and Neymar barely had a sight of goal all night, as Club Brugge - theoretically the weakest team in the group - managed to secure a famous 1-1 draw.
Criticism didn't take long to arrive, with French daily L'Equipe leading with "Messi and Neymar did nothing" as their summary, giving the pair a 4 and a 5 out of 10 respectively in their match ratings.
"Barely involved in pressing and rusty in attack, Neymar and Messi unbalanced the PSG team in Bruges.
"Defensively, Messi wasn't involved at all.
"And in attack, Neymar created very little in the final third," the French daily added.
Le Parisien wrote that "the MNM have not showed up yet", in reference to the star trio.
"Starting together for the first time this season, Messi, Mbappe and Neymar didn't shine.
"No goals, and not much link-up.
"The MNM have a long way to go yet."
PSG vs Manchester City
Next up in the Champions League for PSG is the small matter of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
The Citizens put six goals past RB Leipzig in their opening match, but they did concede three times.
Going against Mauricio Pochettino is the injury to Mbappe that saw him leave the field in Belgium.
The PSG boss will need to find a new formula ahead of the challenges ahead.
