Paderborn 2-3 Leipzig: Visitors go top of the Bundesliga

  /  autty

You only get one chance to make a first impression, and free-scoring Leipzig may have scarred Paderborn if it wasn't for a second half fight-back in their first ever meeting in the Bundesliga this afternoon.

The hosts are fresh from an admirable 3-3 draw away at Dortmund last Friday, but it took Julian Nagelsmann's side just three minutes to score.

It took them even less time to add to their lead, with Marcel Sabitzer scoring just a minute after loanee Patrick Schick's opener.

Timo Werner added to the misery to make it 0-3 before half time. But Streli Mamba, who bagged a brace against Dortmund, mounted slim chances of a comeback when he struck after an hour.

It looked within reach when Albanian midfielder Klaus Gjasula struck 11 minutes later and with just over 15 minutes left on the clock.

But the bottom side were unable to complete the turnaround which meant Leipzig went top of the table with Monchengladbach in action on Sunday.
