French midfielder Paul Pogba suffered a lesion to the lateral meniscus in his right knee in Juventus' pre-season training.
Pogba limped off the training field in Los Angeles and as a result the former Manchester United star will not travel with the Italian side to Dallas as they continue their pre-season tour of the US.
The injury comes just two weeks into his Juve return, and he will now see a specialist to determine whether he requires surgery to treat the issue, according to Football Italia.
He reportedly did not seem to be in too much discomfort after complaining of knee pain, but scans have shown the extent of the damage.
A Juventus club statement read: 'Following complaining of pain in his right knee, Paul Pogba underwent radiological examinations that revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,' read the club statement.
'In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopaedic consultation.
'Therefore, in order to continue treatment, he is not taking part in the trip to Dallas.'
With the Old Lady's first game of the Serie A season against Sassuolo on August 15 fast approaching, the midfielder faces a race against time to be fit in time.
A common prognosis for similar injuries is around two to three weeks if surgery is not required, but if the specialist decides that is the best course of action he could be out for at least a month.
The Italian giants had been planning to move on central midfielders Arthur, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot, but with Pogba potentially set for a spell on the sidelines plans at the Old Lady could change.
The three central midfielders were not viewed as part of Juventus' long-term tactical strategy, following the free transfer the Frenchman.
Both Ramsey and Rabiot are pocketing a wage worth in the region of €7million every year, and Arthur is believed to earn that figure in bonuses, according to Tuttosport.
Juve fans will of course be disappointed at the news, and perhaps more so given the impressive displays the midfielder was pulling off in training.
One clip shared to Juve's official Twitter page saw Pogba skip past his defender before pulling off an audacious backheel pass it to his team-mate.
