Pep Guardiola confirms Kevin De Bruyne will be out for months due to a serious injury

The Belgian playmaker was withdrawn midway through Man City's Premier League opener against Burnley as a recurring hamstring issue continued to cause problems.

And now, City boss Guardiola has confirmed that the club will decide whether De Bruyne will undergo surgery.

In his press conference, Guardiola said: 'We have to decide [on] his surgery... We will decide in the next days. Surgery is surgery, three or four months out'.

"The injury for Kevin is a sore blow for us. But at the same time we have to look forward. The skills of Kevin is irreplaceable but it's an opportunity for others and I'm sure they will take it."

The City boss was also asked whether De Bruyne will go to see Dr Ramon Cugat, to which he said: 'He saw the images, saw them personally. Two or three doctors had the same opinion...'
