Pep Guardiola is open to staying at Manchester City beyond the 2024/25 season.

The Catalan boss is preparing for the new campaign on the back of winning a record breaking fourth successive Premier League title last season.

Guardiola was asked about his future in the final weeks of the 2023/24 campaign and he confirmed a plan to remain in Manchester for at least another 12 months.

His current deal at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2025 with renewal talks yet to yield an extension for the former Barcelona boss.

The subject was again raised during City’s preseason tour of the USA and Guardiola admitted he is open minded over extending his stay at the club.

“When I’m leaving, I will say I’m leaving, but I didn’t say that”, as per quotes from Sky Sports.

“We will see what happens. But I will not rule it out absolutely to extend my contract. I would love to stay.

“Nine years today in the same club is an eternity. So I want to be sure it’s the right decision. Not just for me, for the club, for the players.”

City take on AC Milan in preseason action today, with Guardiola’s losing to Celtic in their opening tour match, ahead of a Premier League restart on August 18.
