Mauricio Pochettino has insisted his stellar front three were not to blame for Paris Saint-Germain's disappointing draw in their Champions League opener against Club Brugge.
Philippe Clement's unheralded Belgian side held one of the competition favourites to 1-1 at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday evening despite PSG lining up with all-star, £361million trio Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar up front.
Pochettino admitted to RMC Sport that the attacking triumvirate did need to time gel, but refused to lay responsibility at their door, instead lamenting the lack of solidity across the whole pitch.
He said: 'We know we have to improve. That's not an issue for me. I'm happy with the forwards' defensive work. We need to be tougher in other sectors of play.
'They need playing time to get to know and understand each other; to play together to succeed, but that wasn't the issue tonight.
'We weren't solid enough for a Champions League match. We're not happy with the result or the performance, we know we have to do better.
'We have a magnificent group of players, what we need to do now is find a defensive and offensive structure. We need time.'
Both sides are now on one point in a stacked Group A, with Manchester City top and RB Leipzig bottom after the Premier League champions beat the German side 6-3, also on Wednesday.
The French giants, however, have started the domestic campaign brilliantly and lie top of Ligue 1 with five wins from five matches and a goal difference of +11.
