Pochettino picks USMNT players for Venezuela and Costa Rica

Led by Mauricio Pochettino, the 24 players called up for the friendly matches against Venezuela and Costa Rica began their preparation.

The first camp of 2025 has kicked off for the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), now under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino, as preparations begin for friendly matches against Venezuela and Costa Rica.

The 24 players called up by Pochettino have already reported for duty and began training this Wednesday at Inter Miami’s facilities in Fort Lauderdale, aiming to reach peak form ahead of these fixtures.

This USMNT roster primarily features MLS players, as the camp does not coincide with an official FIFA window, preventing the Argentine coach from relying on the usual core of Europe-based players.

This situation requires extra effort from both Pochettino and his squad, as the MLS is currently in its offseason, with teams just beginning preseason preparations. For the USMNT, quickly regaining match fitness will be critical for their upcoming friendlies against Venezuela and Costa Rica.

The team will train at Inter Miami’s facilities from Wednesday through Friday, January 17, before facing Venezuela at Chase Stadium in their first match of the year.
